From Wentworth to Ireland: Gorse & Thistle at the BMW PGA Championship 2026
There are few better places to celebrate golf than at Wentworth during the BMW PGA Championship. With the world's leading players competing and thousands of enthusiastic spectators, it's one of the highlights of the European golfing calendar.
This September, Gorse & Thistle was delighted to join a delegation of Irish golf and tourism businesses on Tourism Ireland's Golf in Ireland stand at the 2026 championship.
It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce Gorse & Thistle to golfers from London and the South of England, showcase Ireland's exceptional golfing experiences and strengthen relationships across the Irish golf tourism industry.
Showcasing the Best of Irish Golf
The BMW PGA Championship attracts a knowledgeable and passionate golfing crowd, making it an ideal event to promote Ireland as one of the world's great golf destinations.
From the spectacular links of Royal County Down and Royal Portrush to the celebrated courses of Ballybunion, Lahinch and Old Head, Ireland offers an extraordinary variety of golfing experiences and hospitality.
For Gorse & Thistle, the BMW PGA provided an opportunity to share our enthusiasm for these great courses and introduce visitors to the possibilities of a bespoke golf holiday in Ireland, combining exceptional golf with outstanding hospitality and memorable experiences away from the golf course.
It was also lovely to have the opportunity to speak to so many people about their own experience and memories of golfing in Ireland and we’re already helping some of them plan their next trip.
Building Connections Across the Irish Golf Industry
A major highlight of the event for us was the chance to connect with other businesses involved in promoting Irish golf and hospitality.
We were delighted to share the stand with Cork Golf Club, Dooks Golf Club, Harvey's Point Hotel and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Letterkenny (both part of the TMR Hotel Collection), and The Hawthorn by Galway Bay.
Each business brings its own unique perspective on golf and the wider hospitality experience on offer across Ireland and it was particularly valuable to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and explore opportunities to work together in the future.
A special thank you to Joe Cruise of Tourism Ireland for his support and for helping bring together such a great group of businesses.
Looking Ahead to More Great Golfing Experiences
With the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor on the horizon, there has rarely been a more exciting time for Irish golf.
At Gorse & Thistle, we specialise in creating bespoke luxury golf tours across Ireland and Scotland, combining world-class courses, carefully selected accommodation and personalised service to create memorable golfing journeys.
Our visit to Wentworth reinforced what makes golf tourism so special: the people we meet, the relationships we build and the shared enthusiasm for discovering exceptional places to play.
We thoroughly enjoyed being part of this year's BMW PGA Championship and look forward to building on the connections made throughout the event.
